I've been sitting back, enjoying the summer jams so far but as soon as I saw this round's theme, I just had an idea that I knew would be appreciated by this crowd so with that, here's Tommy Gunn, the mafia's most ruthless interrogation personel
So far, it's a pretty ambitious script I've got for him but since it's now 3 weeks of production, I might be able to power through it 'til then
And yes, I was made aware that "Tommy Gunn" is the name of a pornstar
I can't wait to see the other characters people create for this, it's a fantastic theme

Welcome to the jam! Is this gonna be your first animation upload on NG?

Thanks! It should be my first submission if I get it done in time, I'm a long-time lurker on the site and I've been working on a part for this year's Sketch Collab the past few months but I knew I had to make something for this jam when I saw the theme
Still figuring out color schemes, but heres some rough ideas I had for some mascots. The idea I'm going with is a designer goes to pitch a mascot to a horror creature group, but he accidentally winds up pitching it to a maternity ward. Thus, the Baby Muncher is born. Still working out a better name for it, but you get the idea.
Any thoughts or feedback would be sweet, I'm having trouble deciding which design to go with.

I love the idea of the short, really fun concept
Personally, I'm a sucker for cartoonish designs so top-left speaks more to myself, the bottom-left looks like it'd be great fun to animate in motion but the top-right feels more applicable to the narrative
It really boils down to your tone, whether you plan to make it scary or counteract the scary tone of the film by making the mascot kind of goofy
Either way you've got a good collection to select from so far

Yeah, I liked the top-right as well but thought it didn't quite fit in with the whole baby motif. Might wind up going with the top left.
Also, I gotta say, I love Tommy Gunn. He looks like he'd be a boss guy in that upcoming game Cuphead.

What would be a good time to submit my entry for this to the portal?

You can upload as soon as you are finished, the deadline is August 22nd.
So far, I've got done my character and environment designs and even attempted doing some music
Looking at how much there is left to do, two weeks is going to be brutal so I might have to skimp on some aspects I had planned unless I can find anyone willing to render some backgrounds for me so I might be on the collab and art forums soon for that
This has became a proper balancing act with figuring out what's necessary
@Dragonslore Thanks, that's probably the best compliment I could ask for!
I was looking to Cuphead for inspiration of the style relevant to the time period since they have it down so well
I have no idea what's going on with the grey bits on this image, they're not there originally

Try exporting the whole thing without alpha.
Okayee, in hope all is appreciating summer 2016 (including the 2016 Rio Olympics; Imma huge Olympic fan), I thought it best to inform y'all, that I'm not gonna contribute a toon this round (the reason too much time lost; due to a ruptured lower spine beginning of last week (rowing a awesome time too, but i'm all good now doing weights, with always curious WN applying an almost similar ache around the prior injury, and a partially finished script (done yesterday... finally), but no 2d or 3d characters sketched out or even developed).
But hey, I really like this round's idea (and my idea), so I might release my rejected mascot sci-fi horror tale around Halloween 2016 (it might be a month before, if it (my body and WN, whatta odd pair) behaves hah.
Looking forward to seeing whatcha all got; for this round on. Good luck and have fun!
So I've decided to take a stab at this myself, taking the rejected video game character route. See if you can guess why this gets rejected?
I've been hit with one of those "life-gets-in-the-way" kind of weeks so I'm now way off track to get my contribution done in time but I'll be sure to get it finished and on the site soon in the future regardless
Best of luck to everyone entering, it already looks like this'll be a great round
I know this has been addressed before, but I just want to make sure. Is it okay if I use music from somewhere other than the Newgrounds audio portal (as in Royalty Free music)? I'm having a hard time finding as many tracks as I need for this animation!

Audio Portal is preferred but outside sources are ok if they are free to use.
So I finished my entry!
Gotta work some day on lip syncing, hate it so much.
It was fun to do. I didn't use the time we've got properly and I've hurried up in just last few days but I've enjoyed finishing it so much that I want to immiedietaly start working on next projects. It's my second entry for that jams haven't got a point last time but these jams make me move my lazy butt. Hope not to lose motivation after they're finished.
I wish you all good in that round!
Finished up my entry today. Looking forward to all the other entries
Where do we post our submission for the MascotJam Competition?

You can upload it like a regular movie submission, just include the tag "mascotjam" so we can find it. You can also link it right in this thread!
