I still get no where.

you need to make lots and sustain your output over the long term. one track isn't going to get you anywhere unless it is exceptionally amazing, and even then the shelf life of music these days is so short that you will be expected to follow it up soon enough.

I love Trance, and all I want is to just experience one of my songs being played in 1000+ venues or shit like that.

you need to make friends with the right people.

why must everything go against the way I would like it to go? and I mean everything....

because the world doesn't really care about what you want.

Unless you're going by a strict part-express style building guide and you have woodworking equipment, throwing an arbitrary woofer and tweeter into an "enclosure" with a "simple" cross-over is not going to work well unless you happen to get really lucky or really know what you are doing.

Three words: thiele small parameters

i couldn't agree with this more

and as far as headphones are concerned, they can do in a pinch, but i always find that the lower freqs in headphones can be up to a semi-tone sharper than what i hear from a set of speakers.

i try not to get bothered over forum stuff, but i'm astounded by the amount of crap people are talking about a pair of speakers they have never owned.

Also, Ableton doesn't quantize on the fly as you can tell from this vid.

That's the point! To show off! It looks freakin' sick, the audience on Youtube LOVES it, and I bet it's fun achieving it, even if the sonic result is the same.

I mean, it's like saying, "what's the point of live DJ'ing if you can just map it before the show? Sounds just as good."

Live performance always adds extra brownie points.

pretty much this

also i'm sure there is room for spontaneity

i wish i was focused and dedicated enough to put together sick routines like this

(also im pretty sure that ableton quantizes on the fly so all the triggering should be pretty much on point)

it might have been cheesy but how else am i supposed to put it? it's really hard to not feel this way when practically every moment of my life i am either thinking about music or doing something music related.

or do you not feel like you were born to be a musician? is it just a hobby for you? is your brain switched off about music most of the time?

mate i have had two pairs of AV-30s and i think they are the fucking shit.

the only reason i don't have them is because i gave them to friends who starting producing and needed them more than i did, as i was only using them as reference monitors once i had my main monitors set up properly.

having said that, i have mixed and mastered bass heavy music on them with no problems. if you're on soundcloud, look me up [atomsmasha] and the last two tracks i've put out on labels were done on AV-30s ["Tuff Sick" and "Flight Of The Immolator Remix"]

seriously they are good speakers and i would easily use them as my only monitors

looks gnarly man. there are a few kids keyboards which i really covet and i think you might dig them too. they're usually priced around the $50 - $100 mark, but some of them can be had for less if you get lucky/look hard:
- Casio HT-700 (8 voice programmable subtractive synth with analog filter, midi in/out)
- Yamaha PSS-360 (8 voice semi-programmable FM synth)
- Yahama PSS-460 (same as above but stereo speakers)

i have a semi-broken Boss DR-110 if you want it mate. All of the sounds trigger fine, but the sequencer has stopped working. you might be able to fix it, or use it as a module and build your own sequencer for it using an arduino or something

Response to: The Audio Forum Lounge Posted November 22nd, 2012 in Audio

it's sale time in internet land again

Teenage Engineering are doing 15% off for today only.

I just bought an OP-1. I figure if I don't dig it I can sell it on ebay and not lose any money on it.

Also Native Instruments are doing another 50% off sale.

there's a fairly big psytrance community on soundcloud, you just gotta find it.

you've had an account for over a year, but you've barely commented on anyone elses music? attention doesn't tend to just come by itself. find some psytrance tunes you like and leave some comments. just keep doing this. it aint rocket science.
