I am old enough to have seen that when it first came out, but I never knew about it. I wish I did, that's pretty cool!
Playing Flash games on school computers along with a bunch of my classmates
It looks a lot cleaner now, great work!
Literally just a laptop. Can't even run Zardy's Maze without lagging into oblivion. Still works for small indie stuff like Slay the Spire and Death Road to Canada, but anything bigger is out of the question.
For want of a list
“…ANOTHER beer god?” All Joseph could do was pace, otherwise he might have throttled someone by now. When his team signed up to decipher the biggest cache of lost civilization records ever found, he…well, he would have LIKED to have discovered the secrets of the universe, but he was modest about his work. However, even his worst-case scenarios fell short of the reality he was facing now.
“Yes sir, with two heads this time.” His attendant, Billy, had a strained cheer in his voice, like that news would somehow make this all better. “The records call him Junillo. He was the god of competitive drinking.”
Joseph’s sighed. “Didn’t they already have Mapa and Apam for that?”
The attendant blinked. “Well…yes, it’s possible their stories might have combined the twins into one deity somewhere down the line.”
“Interesting.” Joseph said in the least interested way possible. “And remind me when this tablet was dated?”
“About 3600 years ago sir.” Billy seemed proud to remember that.
Joseph looked down at him. “And what were the records on Mapa and Apam dated at?”
“3590 years…oh.” Billy’s eyes widened, realizing the problem.
Joseph threw his hands up. “It’s the same story as the wartime strategy gods and the marital debate gods! What is wrong with these people?!” After a pause, he turned back to the assistant. “That wasn’t rhetorical. I’m trying to find answers here!”
Billy was oddly still, compared to his usual nervous fidgeting. “Well…maybe…I’m pretty sure none of these gods appeared in any stories beyond the one that introduced them.” Joseph’s eyes widened, and Billy took that as inspiration to keep going. “And we haven’t found any sort of record of all of their gods yet, right? Maybe there was no record, and that’s why there’s all this overlap?”
Joseph’s eyebrow twitched. “You mean to tell me that they had all these gods, and all these stories, and no actual list of them?!” He could feel a headache coming.
But Billy jumped to his feet. “Wait, if there were people all writing stories about different gods and not actually sharing them…” he trailed off, his bravado faltering. Thankfully for him, it was enough for Joseph to connect the dots.
“So, we think that this was a result of poor communication from the era, leading to everyone making up their own gods without comparing them?” Joseph allowed himself a rueful smile. “Unbelievable.”
I was grinning like an idiot from all the references they stuffed in it. Honestly, anyone complaining that a Mario movie is too simple is missing the point. It's simple mindless fun, but it is REALLY fun.
Update: I watched it. If you're not a Nintendo person, it's just a silly mindless romp. As for me, I was grinning like an idiot from all the references I caught.
On the fence. It's not that I don't want to watch it, just that my time is being taken up by other stuff I also want to do.

Please do. It's genuinely good, and it's free. Took about 2 hours for me to beat.
I played it for a little while when it first came out. It's mid. Not bad, but honestly boring.
It's expected and amusing, in the same vein as the likes of Batman x Joker.

Street performer's success depends entirely on the quality of the performance, and charitability. A lot of streamers, especially on TikTok, just have really weird non-content that has no payoff and I don't understand people that donate. Like the guy that's just building a house if cards and every donation makes it fall over and he acts all mad and starts over, or some guy trying to sleep and the donations wake him up and he pretend to be irate about being woken up.
I disagree that street performers can only succeed based on their performances. When they stick around and talk to people, they become known faces in their communities. They make friends, and sometimes those friends become regular supporters that can help the performers get by. There's one such guy in my town and basically everybody knows him and chips in to help him get by. It's pretty similar to streamers having subscribers.
So... Charitability, as I said. That makes sense, but stumbling on a TikTok live that's some guy sleeping doesn't inform me that he needs help and community like the local performer everyone knows.
But you gotta consider that for some people, these online faces are the performers everyone knows ('everyone' being the online niche community). Parasocial relations and all that. Especially post-pandemic, when there are a bunch of people around who only rarely get the chance to really talk with people in-person beyond saying 'hi'.
Man I'd checked Jacksmith out a couple weeks ago to see if it would work. It didn't and I thought that was that. But guess what? Send my thanks out to the Ruffle team for their great work!

I respect the hustle, but why would you do that to yourself?
Having the entire universe wiped out at the start of Smash Ultimate's story mode seemed to do the trick.
90s kid here. This new logo is basically just a modern version of their logo from back then. I like it, but that might be nostalgia.

Tetris came out in 1989. How far did you get into it?I don't remember how I did, since I was only like 6 at the time. With that said, since I am still awful at Tetris today, I doubt I was much better back then.
Have you ever played Dr. Mario? It is similar to Tetris but has its own style.
I believe I have the Dr Mario from the N64. And yeah, I remember being better at that one.

Please don't remind me of my cringey high school phase.
It also has a story that you can actually follow without a reference guide.
I hope you are aware of what you have unleashed.
With that said, Nintendo for life. I have a very personal connection with Nintendo that the others can't match.

I get that with Luke. In my case, I don't 'like' him exactly, but I get where he's coming from. My favorite is also from a Tales game.
I am one of the few people out there who will admit to playing Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. It is a terrible game for the most part, and yet it has an awesome protagonist: The timid Emile and his violent split personality Ratatosk. Somehow, both personalities grow, develop, and learn to accept each other by the end. I have never seen any media pull off something like that convincingly, and it's especially surprising since the rest of the story is so awful.
My headcanon on this is that most of the time he's a confident top, but then the right circumstances line up and he becomes a vulnerable boi in need of tender loving.
(Traumatized Pico best Pico don't @ me)
Most recent case would be from The Batman. Bruce's big heart-to-heart with Alfred.
Visualizing my headspace would require me to have at least three mouths and a small jazz band.

The Gameboy came out in 1989. At least, the original ones did.
@johnsoma
Yup, it was an OG Gameboy, so that's the date of my oldest game.

Were you not a fan of Xbox?
@johnsoma
It's a matter of budget more than anything. Also that most games on Xbox can be played just as well on Playstation.
