Producing a Specific Sound Posted May 4th, 2015 in Audio

Newgrounds, it's been a while. I have a question though, and I think this forum may be able to help.

I'm trying to recreate a specific sound from this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3PwqBBZUaE

At about 30 seconds in, a sort of gated pad comes in. It's really heavy on reverb and such, and it is a really unique sound. I was wondering how I would go about making this sort of sound. The gating won't be a problem but it's just getting to there in the first place.

I do use FL Studio and I have a few VSTs like Harmor, Z3ta2, Gladiator, and others. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Kaizerwolf

Moving On Posted November 13th, 2012 in Audio

Hey guys, long time no see.

I've been drifting away from Newgrounds for a few months now. I haven't posted much on the forums, I've sparsely uploaded.. I'm just losing time and moving on. I know this will be the weirdest place to post all of this, but maybe some of you kids can help me out.

I'm stuck. I'm writing out short songs, maybe 3 to 4 minutes, and I find I'm unable to finish them. The quality is a lot better than what I used to upload, but I just don't know where to go with them. Maybe I'm in the wrong genre, maybe not, but I feel like I'm in this huge rut that I can't get out of. So the first question is, what do you all do when you're stuck? I know that listening to as much music as possible is good, and I have been, but what else is there?

My second question has to do with networking. I'm obviously really bad at that, because my followings on other sites are low. I have a Facebook page, and a Soundcloud, and a Youtube, but the follow counts are all so low, despite my best efforts in trying to network. Does anyone have any advice?

My third question is, if I want to attempt to release a small album or EP, what is the best way to go about this? I'm looking at 3-5 psychedelic trance songs, but then again, it isn't the most popular genre out there. Popularity isn't my concern here, this question just goes hand in hand with networking.

Thanks for the long read, if anyone stuck through it.

Take pretty much any instrument and drench that sucker in reverb. Yum! Also try playing with panning and stereo separation, that helps too :)

You are quite correct, drown those pads with tons of reverb. Pan it around, side chain the reverb, go for less melodic patterns and play around with more atonal notes and all. White noise is good as well, play around with filters, reverb and panning on that. Gets the best ambient space sounds.

I've felt senioritis since I got my first acceptance letter from a college. Even more so after I accepted to a college. But you gotta keep going, giving up and slacking is a really dumb move. You'll get through it either way, and in all actuality, doing the work will pass the time more quickly, until you graduate. That's how I'm approaching this whole deal, anyway...

Hey all. I'm looking to create a casual treefolk deck. Nothing to put into tournaments, just something for fun with some friends. At the moment, I've only got a basic green/white deck, and a blue/artifact deck from the 2011 deck builder.

One, the feasibility of this type of deck..

Two, any recommended cards? I would prefer black/green.

Thanks. :D

technodude79's Galactic Journey Posted May 10th, 2012 in Audio

Hey all. It's been a while.

Does anyone remember this song? A while back this technodude79 fellow stole a ton of psy trance songs, and this was undoubtedly my favorite. As i recall, no one ever found the original songs on that were part of this one. I found this in my downloaded music folder a few weeks ago, and I remembered why I liked it so much.

By chance, this evening, while listening to Digitally Imported's Goa Psy radio, I came across the song on the first part of technodude79's. The song was Azriel, by Hyper Nova. I'm actually really excited, because the first song in Galactic Journey is great, and I found it. But the second part is better. I've already weeded out Astral Projection, since I checked all their songs on Amazon; none of the sounded the same.

Was anyone ever able to identify the second part? Or maybe if it was a third part as well? I've done some searching around the BBS threads but I can't find anything.
I can provide a link to an upload of the song, if anyone wants to take a listen.

Any help is supremely appreciated, and anyone who does help me gets a huge hug.
Love,
Kaizer

Synthesis Question Posted April 1st, 2012 in Audio

Hey now NG Audio Forum. How the hell have you been.
I've been away for too long. Mostly due to a lack of time, but sort of forgetting to post and shit.. sorry 'bout that.

Anyhow, I have a question. I've been working at this sort of thing for a while now, and I can't seem to get it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MEc5q6_7zE&ob=av2e

What friggin' sound is the main lead? It sounds all spacey and shit. I cannot make it, or even anything equivalent to it. Would anyone happen to have a tutorial, know of one, a preset on some old unheard of VST, anything. I WANT to play with ittttttttt.

Shanks in advance, fellas.

Are you sure you have the correct version?
You could try removing the Flash player completely and then reinstalling the latest version.

Yes, I updated to the version that I was linked to from the song's page.

You've got the right idea, and I can see you're starting to improve your posts. What I do see, though, is a lot of them are one sentence lines, with 4 lines or so. That isn't the case for all of them, but I see it a few times. By lines, we mean full lines, not one sentence per. Your quality is improving, yes, and I like the way you're moving to. It's only for about a page and a half of your posting history though; past that is back to the one lines. It's only been a little while since your first evaluation, and while you have improved your posting habits, in my opinion there is still a little ways to go.

You're on the right track though! :D

I'm in. Hopefully I can create something halfway decent by the 14th. The date is fine I think, that would give me more pressure to be creative. I wonder about effect channels though; if you require proof that it is fully FL core, do you want the actual FLP file? What about project versions? I use FL9, but what about those with newer or older versions?

Response to: Newgrounds Police Dept. Posted November 26th, 2011 in Clubs & Crews

I'm confused as to whether or not you want me to apologize or not, or if you're trying to make me feel bad or ashamed. Honestly, if you HAD the proof, why didn't you post it for us? Why did you only provide your personal claims instead of the evidence you just gave us? I was taught by Tails and others that for every whistle on a potentially stolen flash, there needs to be a subsequent link (as well as any other essential author information) to prove it.

Now, contrary to your assumptions, I did take a look at Bmaster123's profile. I watched all 3 uploads, and yes, I would have to say the videos do not look like his own creations. I did a little searching, and while I couldn't find the originals, I found he had posted links to the uploads on multiple other sites under the same "Bmaster123". Granted, I did not find any proof, but at the point I would have left it up to the other members of the NGPD to see if they could find any other info. I would have posted what I found, and seen if anyone could help, instead of going with a gut feeling that would likely be ignored as a whistle.

I don't know, maybe I'm completely wrong, but it still seems to me like you don't fully understand how things work here. Or perhaps I don't. Either way, if you had the proof to begin with, you should have posted it instead of your assumptions about the uploads.

Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the original source, which would've truly sealed the deal on this case, which I suspect means that the "author" is on to us, and therefore changed the titles of his stolen entries so that identifying the original source will be much more difficult. Also, take note of the white borders on the left and right of all of his submissions, which I suspect are characteristic of the video-ripping program he uses. Why would the original creator of these videos have any reason to rip them using such crude means? No reason whatsoever, since the original creator should have the original Flash files and the means to upload them in top quality. He's obviously stolen videos once before, who's to say that he didn't do so again this time? I conclude that Bmaster123 is not the creator of these entries and therefore has stolen them.

Again I will say, PROOF PROOF PROOF. White lines on the edge of a section are not enough, and can be attributed to anything, most notably a low quality cut of an actual legitimate flash or the author's own personal mistakes with the program. Also, making assumptions about a flash does not create a persuasive whistle report. I don't think you really understood me before; no matter how much you feel that it's stolen, you need hard proof in the form of links. It doesn't matter if the author changed the titles for this website, you need to do your best to find SOMETHING. It doesn't look convincing when a whistle message says"Oh, well, I can't find a link to the actual game, but.. you know, there is this this and this wrong that makes it stolen". If you think about it, you wouldn't really trust a whistle like this one. They get submitted all the time, for flashes that are legitimate or not.

This game is site-locked and therefore must've been stolen from it's original source.

Well then, what is the original source? Look man, I'm all for you posting here and getting acquainted with the group before we reopen apprenticeship, but you're going about this all wrong. If I were to reevaluate, I would say you're not ready, since you don't seem to know exactly what it means to flag a game. Yes, it may be site locked, but that is not enough evidence to warrant an effective whistle. You need proof, and that comes from an original link.

In my honest opinion, while your posts are somewhat on topic, you have a lot of mainly one lined posts. Checking through the first two pages of your history, you seem to have a lot of the one lined posts with a picture attached to them. I will admit, we all slip up sometimes and make a one or two liner, but even still, the NGPD holds a bit of a higher standard of quality and maturity.

I would say no, to work on your posting habits the most and then maybe you could try again. It's not up to me though, Tails will be the one to decide.
