Stuff to bond the artistic community and most importantly actively improve the skills of those who participate.Right now its either personal art threads or people looking for some advice. Both are great and perfectly placed on an art forum , but still i find it lacking. Now lets see how many pitchforks will i raise by saying my opinion.

Considering this threads sees more activity than the lounge, I think it's safe to say it's still serving a purpose. Tinychat is one of the few places left where users DO come together and interact. So don't be hatin'! Just join the chat instead ;D

Well, if you read the first post of the thread... it's meant for things happening 'off-site', if you will. Back in the Stickam days, the rooms were constantly dying so the link was always changing. It was a way to keep it all in one place making it easier for everyone to find. With tinychat... that doesn't happen, but... the thread is still here as a reminder/notification that people are about/active.

For things happening 'on' the site (collabs, contest, etc.), there's usually a dedicated thread for it. But I can understand how the title could be misleading.

This thread was specifically created for sharing activities like tinychat, livestreams, etc. So let's keep it about that ;)
If you want to organize a collab or something, go for it. Make a new thread ...or use the lounge to discuss ideas.

Would anyone else be up for hosting/manning the steam?

we'll miss you Pat!

Tossing around the idea of doing another live stream but we'd need a few more people to help out.

Cool, I'll have to check out that book! Thanks!!

Disney, eh?! Impressive!! That had to be exciting!! What did you do there? Did you work on anything we may have heard of/seen?

We had a decent turn out last time... several old regs dropped in! Was fun!! We ended up with a skype call broadcast via livestream ...and we're thinking of trying it again tomorrow. Not sure what time yet. That'll depend on who volunteers to join in.

So this is a heads up and a call out to anyone that might want to tune in/participate. The hope is to get enough people involved that this can go on every week without being dependent on the same few people. So the more the merrier!

If you're interested in joining as a 'critiquer,' let us know so we can get you added on skype beforehand.

If you'd like to be a 'critiquee,'(scouted or unscouted, everyone is welcome!!) ...just post a link to ONE piece. Depending on how things go, we may be able to look through more of your stuff (that's sort of what happened the first time).

You don't have to be on cam or mic to participate. There's text chat or you can just watch/listen!

If anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions ...or anything else to add, post 'em here or pm me if that's more comfortable for ya.

The goal is to get people to interact and HELP each other improve in a positive way ...and strengthen the community in the process!! Plus it's a good way to get some views (thanks, Pat! lol)

Hope to see you all tomorrow!! :D

if no one shows, we'll just skip it :'(

Question to everyone... out of curiosity... how have you learned what you know about animation? Did you go to school? Are you in school now? If so, which one? Is it strictly an animation course, or full art-type program? ...Or are you self taught/learning on your own? If so, what has been the most helpful resource for you? (books, sites, other animators, etc.)

The standard has been: you can submit as many as you want, but can only win one prize/place. I'd imagine that's how it'll be this time around too. But you could ask in the Halloween Art 2013 thread. Tom posted there, so odds are he'll be keeping tabs on it and will respond to questions. Or... you could pm him.

Can't wait to see what awesome stuff you (and everyone else) turns out! :D

At 10/8/13 11:04 AM, Zeebra wrote: Hey everyone, I am in need of some advice and assistance. Is it possible to animate a character with a bone structure?

I dabbled with the bone tool a while back. Seemed like just as much, if not more, work than doing it with tweens/fbf. The rigging can take ages... but then you still have to move it to the poses you want in all your keyframes anway. It's been deprecated with Flash CC, so... might as well stick with tweens. And as kkots said, be mindful of your pivot points!

Good luck!

Why not?

Just pick a day and start promoting it. Make news posts, threads, animations, etc. As people get on board, have them do the same. Spread the word to other sites too. If it's a cool concept and you get enough momentum that it turns into something big, it'll could eventually become an 'official' day*!

We're still looking through art. Scouted and unscouted. If you want to join us, or have something you've done (or are working on) that you'd like comments on, stop on by. Not sure how much longer I'll be around, but someone is usually there.

Live Art Reviews Posted September 15th, 2013 in Art

I've always thought it would be fun to do live reviews/critiques... as a group. So I figured I'd toss the idea out there and see where it lands. If it fails, it fails... but hopefully it'll turn into something fun and get people more involved in the community.

I'm totally open to ideas and suggestions (on any aspect of it), but basically the idea is... get whoever is around and willing... to meet up in tinychat (or where ever) and go through the art portal (or unscouted section). Discuss, rate, and leave HELPFUL comments along the way... with the goal of getting the actual artists to join the chat so we can have some back and forth with them. Give tips/suggestions and help each other grow and improve.

Livestream, G+, Skype and Twitch have all been suggested. Not sure which would be the best route. So if anyone wants to join in, help out or just offer suggestions on things, please do so here or drop by the current tinychat room.

Anyone and everyone is welcome! :D
