Can someone bump the "4 votes or less" topic pls I'm literally dying out here
I really like "martyr" protagonists. (?)
You know, Sailor Moon, Itadori...
But I like when their suffering
actually builds up and amounts
to something, because I totally
hate misery porn.
Sometimes when I like the MC
of a story, I'd like to have them
suffer a lot so they get their
hashtag glow up in a very nice
way in the end.
(My fanfics are like that.)
But I genuinely hate when the
MC does suffer a lot and has
a bunch of stuff happen to him
for a reason. and yet they never
get actual character development
(Shinji Ikari). I hate that so much,
so I think it's not much of a character
trope and more like a idk, type of
story that I like, and it's a bit of a
two-edged sword too.
Another thing I like is the pet-type
of characters! Luna, Kero, etc.!
But I like them most when they
have their own personality and
character arcs and aren't just
exposition machines. (Kyubey
from Madoka Magica)
I also tend to like the "childhood
friends who had a sibling-like
relationship with the MC".
Specifically Imoen from Baldur's
Gate!
I tend to like them even more
than the actual sibling of the MC.
Not romantically, but just fluff and
friends being friends. If they have
a backstory together, I love it more!
Some recent drawings I've made:
I don't think I'll post more art for the rest of
this year, so if y'all check out these, I'll be
so happy ^^

Also like really over designed characters in general. Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss has a good amount of examples there. At a certain point there's just TOO much going on with a character and it becomes a massive eyesore. Overly simple characters are usually at most just boring visually but I feel like there's far more use cases for a character in a shirt and pants than a character with 30 different symbols all over their design and ton of tiny intricate shapes
The funny thing is that most of the time the outfits
they wear are literally just a shirt and pants lol, just
with a lot of frills and t r i a n g l e s
Which I'd like to add that for some reason the guy
characters must wear a suit or some fancy & elegant
attire, while the girls all the time just wear shorts and
crop-tops, in like the most casual way possible.

Well, I'm not big on Mario, but I'd say, this
definitely could have been a better design.

Would love to see a redesign of Pomni in a style of character design similar to that Sailor Moon season, that'd make for a really unique piece of fanart!
Ay that's a sick idea! I'll keep it in mind when I
get the time to properly draw her. = )

That's why Yu-Gi-Oh is hot garbage now. The coin flip alone determines whether you win or lose.
But wasn't the coin flip present since like the first
versions of the game? The dice and such.
What I mean is by going first in today's Yu-Gi-Oh is a death sentence since your opponent going first can set up their massive combo and delete you on the first turn.
Ah, I get it. Yeah, it sucks having to worry about the turn
order now specially since back in the old days going 2nd
turn was actually an advantage. But at least I think it's more
dynamic since you can never know what your opponent's
gonna do, and more often than not they won't delete you
instantly. (Unless it's competitive gaming ig)

I've seen that, as I tend to win more when I summon
my Dark Magicians. But it only takes the adversary to
yeet them out of the game and delete me easily.

Exactly! As much as I love clown/jester character I kinda hope the fad falls out so we can have actually interesting designs again.
Speaking of amazing circus I hate Jax's design. Something about the way his mouth moves just pisses me off everytime I see it, and it sucks because he looks decent in 2d. Also, as cute as Pomni is, her jester theme is generic and doesn't really match her character imo.
Yeah! Exactly! It is obvious that Pomni is a clown because
they so needed a clown character and Kaufmo wasn't quite
"aesthetic" enough. Actually, none of the characters aside
from Caine really fit into the "circus" theme, maybe Ragatha
is more "carnival" but I don't see where Jax or Gangle fit in.
Yes someone else gets it! Aside from Caine none of the designs fit the characters personalities and circus theme. Gangle almost fits but she's more of theater theme rather than circus. I don't understand how king is even supposed to be anything circus related. I don't understand why couldn't use the circus theme more. Like for example the could've made Jax a lion to reference lion tamers.
I could be okay with Jax being a rabbit, if ONLY there
was a character, a prop, I don't know, something, that
could reference magic, as in magic tricks/shows, but
there isn't, so yeah. Maybe they expect us to think "oh,
well, Caine does have a top hat, so he could fit the role
of a magician in the circus", but still.

That’s interesting, a crossover hack! I wonder if they built each “Pokemon” from the ground up or they had to do major edits from the vanilla Pokemon.
They're mostly re-skins of the normal Pokémon,
for example, Dark Magician Girl is basically

I'd say it looks okay... for something made on Paint Tool Sai.
So Yu-Gi-Oh! It's a game and anime series that a
lot of people has grown with and it's one of the most
popular franchises in the world. And just like with any
franchise that has gone on for a long time, there will
be some people that prefer "the good old times" and
make it difficult for others to just enjoy the more modern
things. It happens with Pokémon, Final Fantasy, and
so on.
I personally never grew up with Yu-Gi-Oh and it wasn't
until this year that I got very into the anime and started
playing the game (via Duel Links), and I've been loving
it so far! Haven't found something that I can say I genui-
nely despise to the point of discrimination. (?)
Even before joining the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom I had known
people who say stuff like "the newer generations are
bad" or "the first series is the only good one", and while
I know I can form my own opinion and that's what matters,
I'm still too new to all of this to form myself a 100% good
or 100% bad opinion on something.
For example, I've been playing some Synchro Summons
and I really liked them, I literally think they're just Ritual
Summons but easier, but people seem to hate them and
say they're too complicated and such. Same goes with
XYZ Summons, they're, like, so easy to play, but some
people apparently view them as the worst that could
happen to the game.
Similar stuff goes with the anime; from what I've seen
5D's seems very cool and I liked the characters from
there, yet people say card games on motorcycles is stupid,
like anime has never done something over the top like that.
Recently in Duel Links the Rush Duel mode was added,
and I genuinely find it more entertaining than Speed Duel,
and more importantly, quicker. Because sometimes I don't
want to spend 30 whole minutes in a duel just to pick up my
weekly rewards.
The Rush Duel anime seems fine to me as well, but people
cringe at the fact that a cartoon about children's card games
is aimed at children.
I don't know man, the first season of the original Yu-Gi-Oh
anime was a pain to watch and I'd rather watch Yuga and
his friends fighting against an evil corpo than having to go
through Yugi's identity crisis.
So! What I'm trying to say with this long rant is,
is the newer stuff really that bad? Are Synchro, XYZ, Link,
etc. Summons really "killing the game"?
Is Sevens really the worst Yu-Gi-Oh anime?
What is there that I don't know? What's the context?
I'm just a noob seeking to learn.
If you're also new to Yu-Gi-Oh, come in! Let's share
experiences! Maybe even duel sometimes if you're on
Duel Links!
~Fair play, fair duel~
FRILLS. OH MY GOD
I KNOW THEY ARE GIRLY AND ARE
DIFFICULT TO DRAW BUT OMG THEY
ARE SO CUTE THEY MAKE ANY OUTFIT

I had worse times, and I'm currently on
a hiatus, which really helped me and I'm

I only talked with 3 bots.
The first bot didn't even know its own

I pointed out that that's not "part of the plot".
Had lots of fun and chatted a lot with it regardless,
but it wasn't the best experience.
The other two were pretty solid!
One was a little bit too serious and it was hard
to just have a chill talk with it (pretty much in-
character, so that's positive), while the other
was a bit more open to trivial conversations
while still acting as its character, so I still had
fun with them.
