I need some help with this. Its not guaranteed that I will pursue doing commissions but Im just interested it them.

Ive been thinking about doing commissions to make a little extra money for a while now but Im not sure If people are going to be interested enough to reach out (especially when I dont want to make NSFW shit). With that comes the problem of pricing my art and I have no and I mean NO idea of what my work is worth. Another thing is I would need to build up a following wich Im not sure how to do :p Any tips from people who run commissions would be appreciated.

Your art is worth whatever you think it is, the hardest part I'd say is getting enough attention to get enough people interested in your art, but it's really good looking so share it wherever you can, there's no shame in that.

And always remember to get paid first! may be a drawback for some people but I think that's preferable over spending who knows how much time in a commission just to not get paid for it.

Youll need to be objective with your art, something you should be doing anyways and something you should start doing if you havent been. Look at other people who do commissions, look at their quality and how much they are charging. Look at what they are making and what is in demand. Figure out what it is you will and wont draw and price your own art based on what you think will be a pricepoint people would be interested in, not necessarily what you think is fair.

The real questions are if people are even showing interest in your baseline art? Do you have enough outgoing energy to do the work of marketing yourself? are you intelligent enough to market yourself in the right spaces? are you relentless enough to not give up and build up a client base?

What do you make or can you make that people would pay money for?

My completely unscientific but true for me metric is that you can generally get one person interested in commissioning you, per 1000 followers, per month. I am not open for commissions so that's roughly how often someone comes to me with no information asking if I do comms and I have to say thanks but no thanks. That's a high estimate though, since in my experience when I DID do commissions, half the people asking would dip out halfway through consultation.

You are in what should be an experimental stage, not a commercial one. Find out what people want before trying to sell it to them.
