I got a DD7 the other day so now I have a DD3 running into a DD7 and I can make all sorts of dreamy sounds.
DD = Digital Delay in case you don't know.

yeah, i got my dirty soiled hands on washed out too, not listened to it properly yet though, heard nothing but praise for it though.
I think I might join this club. I'm not too well versed on the genres, but the Cocteau Twins are one of my favourite bands. I've also heard good things about Dead Can Dance, but for some reason I've not checked any of their stuff out.
Basically I'm asking for recommendations as far as records go.
also this thread has too much piss aura

That's cool, playing with copious amounts of delay can be fun. I tend to use a lot of software effects, so I can ultimately have as many effects as I want. I'd like to get some more pedals for my pedal board as it's pretty weak right now.

Damn, now that is what I like. Reminds me of Hammock, but with a trip-hop/chillwave feel.
Saw this band called Milk they pretty neato their music is cool beans listen to em they're really good.
Thanks for the latest hits canas, well aware of yeasayer (saw em live last summer, fantastic live set) and cults, but starfucker are new to me, that hook was pretty sexy. Also thx for the 3min edit of Grechko.
Listened to Washed Out's album and love it as well. Echoes and Amor Fati are lovely as well as what you've mentioned. Also, Germany Germany have a new album out (it's fantastic, a highlight is Natural) and it spurred me to find some more of their stuff, and I came across the lovely Just Go.
Perfect music for sitting in the sun in the hills of tuscany
I don't know if he fits into this genre, but I've been listening to Toro Y Moi recently. 'Causers of this' is such a chill album.

I've taken a liking to This Will Destroy You for the past few months. There's something about their stuff that stands out to me more than other 'shoegazey' stuff.

Because they're Post Rock, not Shoegaze.

What's the difference, really? Besides, I saw an interview somewhere where the band members were calling themselves a shoegaze band.

They are vastly different. The most obvious being the prominent use of vocals in shogeaze, as well as shoegazes more traditional song arrangement.

Empty names implying something that can hardly describe the true expressiveness of music. Mere industry categorizations, nothing more than a waste of time and dedication... in my humble opinion. In my vocabulary, only a few "genre" words survive, just to preserve the purity and genuineness of sounds. Pop, Rock, Electronic, Ethnic/Folk. The rest is just redundant and left to cold business.
Again, thank you all for sharing such amazing atmospheres, I'm really enjoying these bands. :D
Hey guys, got a pretty cool new album for you by Mathieu Santos, aka the bassist of Ra Ra Riot. Have a listen and download I can hear the trains coming from soundcloud or listen to the whole album here.
Pretty laid back chilled summery indie-pop stuff. I dig.
also going to see washed out live next tuesday, pretty pumped
Hey guys, found this awesome-ness through a facebook friend. For any fans of Robin Gutherie (Cocteau twins). He did a live show at some studio. Brilliant performance. If you like that old school shoegaze sound give it a listen.

Oh man. I almost forgot about this band! And as far as the other bands I've quoted, these are amazing.
I'm bookmarking this group and will be watching it.
Here's a few I like
Airiel - Peoria
Pia Fraus - How Fast Can You Love
Flying Saucer Attack - Oceans (This whole album is amazing to paint to.)
Also, here's a blog I'd suggest you follow for those of you who are on Tumblr. This guys post a lot and doesn't get a lot of notes, despite posting a lot of great tunes.
Shoegazekid
I was looking around at some of the clubs in the forums and this sounded like the only one worth taking a look at. It's cool to see other fans on here. I just had to say one thing. I noticed a couple different people talking about post-rock and shoegaze as different genres or something. That's just not true. Post-rock is just a very broad category of music that focuses largely on atmosphere and experimentation, but there's been a bunch of movements within post-rock, including dream pop and shoegaze. In any case, I'm surprised no one brought up another very related, though somewhat smaller movement within post-rock, slowcore. Bands like Low in the 90s, who wanted to make much slower, quieter and more atmospheric rock, in direct opposition to the grunge movement, with its speed and aggression and loudness. One of the few rock movements where distortion wasn't really used. Lots of reverb, though, and usually really depressing/melancholy sound and sometimes lyrics. It's good stuff. If so inclined, one could actually draw a lot of parallels between slowcore and funeral doom, despite some of their obvious differences. Slowcore bands are still around, but it's a pretty deeply underground movement, although you can still find bigger popular music critics talking about it here and there. Some bands, like Low, are pretty big, too, I guess, or at least kinda well known. Like funeral doom, lot of people just find it boring, I guess. Their loss. Anyways, I'm a fan of post-rock, incl. shoegaze and dream pop and much more, as well as liking a lot of music outside post-rock, too.
Here's an older Low music video:

Here's a music video from their new album, which is a decidedly much happier song:

I quite like the songs you linked. I'm not familiar with Low. But whenever I read slowcore, I instantly think of the band Duster. Although they aren't exactly shoegaze, they are still one of my favorite bands. You might dig them. Gotta love the lofi sound
