Oh my god. MY FAVORITE GENRES!

Though I really got into bands like My Bloody Valentine first, I'd been listening to more dream pop lately. For example, here's a group I recently stumbled upon, this album having been produced by Thomas Dolby of 'She Blinded Me With Science' fame.

The Vandelles who mix surf with shoegaze. Even better than it sounds.
pasteboard. Japanese shoegaze. There's always something special about those Japanese bands.
Pinkshinyultrablast. Russian shoegaze band who do that wall of sound thing that makes me love shoegaze. They've only had one release. 4 song EP. I hope they record more.
I'll be checking out the bands you guys posted while I neglected the group. I hope these bands make up for me never checking back.

Don't worry about it. Seems once someone bumps the topic, it starts to pick up. I have to admit too, I don't always check it frequently.

I'm pretty familiar with Daniel Land and the Modern Painters although I haven't listened to them in years. Have not heard of the other bands you posted, will check them out though ;)

I generally come across nice stuff on last.fm. I don't normally go looking for it though, I usually just stumble upon stuff then look it up later. Sometimes you can find great stuff deep in youtube.

Also that Daniel Land and the Modern Painters tune is amazing along with the pinkultrashinyblast tune.

Some other stuff to check out:
Windy & Carl - Lighthouse This one is more ambient than shoegaze, but you can clearly hear the influence
Rest of My Life - Like Socks From a Dryer I honestly don't remember when I found this album, but it's quite lovely. It has a big post-rock influence though
Southpacific - Round (Forget What You Feel) I came across this band when I got into Duster. Bought their only album from a used record store. They are pretty unknown but damn are they good. Awesome instrumental shoegaze

I always have the scrobbler open. Pretty interesting to see how much I end up listening to and what my top artists are. I usually randomly come across a new artists flipping through band pages I listen to. Add me up next time you login

I tend to find most of my music by accident, i'm usually listening to random playlists in the background of whatever else i'm doing, and on occasion I hear something that piques my attention. I feel like we're a very lucky generation to have such a wide scope of music readily available, it always makes me wonder where all these underground and unknown bands ended up pre-internet era.

Yeah it is true, and if I'm told about an artist I can go look it up on youtube or some other site and instantly listen to them. It can be kind of overwhelming sometimes the amount of stuff I want to listen to, and what I actually get to is pretty small.

I'm thinking of starting to post ambient/minimal artists here too since I'm a big fan, and shoegaze sort of partains to those genres. What do you guys think? If so check out Maps and Diagrams. Can't get enough of them recently

last.fm says Silversun Pickups are Shoegaze and I really like them. But I don't know if that's like going into Metal Hell and saying I like Slipknot (which I did once). But yeah, if that's a valid comment, anyone know any other bands like them?

Alos Snuff, I'd consider Silversun Pickups shoegaze, atleast shoegaze influenced. You can hear it in the guitars. I like a few of their tunes like Common Reactor

Major bump.

Just started to re-listen to the band It's Just Vanity. I got their free album a few years back and got it off my old computer. I like it even better now than I did back then. It's kind of a mix of 90s emo, post-rock, and shoegaze. Check it out :)
I've also been listening to The Pine. Not really shoegaze, but they have that "wall of sound" style

Yay! Common Reactor is a great song. I definitely recommend Little Lover's So Polite, Melatonin and Lazy Eye.

i like the remix of little lover's so polite. i cant really think of anything close to silversun pickups except the joy formidable, lower dens, amusement parks on fire and maybe dead gaze. they all just barely sound like them, but they're good if you're not looking for an exact replica u kno?

Whenever I listen to Silversun Pickups I always get a Smashing Pumpkins vibe from them. For example Try, Try, Try

The pumpkins did some pretty cool shoegaze-y stuff later in their career

I seem to be quite particular with Silversun Pickups' music. There are songs that I really really like, and listen to loads, but others just don't quite do it for me. Even one of their most popular songs I didn't enjoy listening to as much as I did songs like the ones I mentioned.

Does this count as dream pop? It's the only song by Sugar Plant I like, but it's awesome, and they've been labelled as dream pop

I may begin to spend quite a bit of time here. I've only really discovered the joys of shoegaze in the past few months, but having a place here to discuss it would be pretty good considering I intend on spending a bit more time here again. My all time favourite shoegaze release is Have a Nice Life's debut Deathconsciousness (doomgaze, I know, but a derivative nonetheless), but from this year Whirr's album Pipe Dreams really stands out as an incredible album, my second favourite from this year is the Sleep Party People's We Were Drifting On A Sad Song, some of the best dreampop I've heard in such a long time, Melancholic Fog and Gazing At The Moon being standout tracks (and the single, Chin, being kind of forgettable in my opinion).

its a bit more indie but theres some dream pop on here, all very hip

Bringing this thread back from the dead.

Been listening to Rumskib recently, check it out. Easily one of the better recent shoegaze bands. Really epitomizes the 90s shoegaze with the 80s dreampop stuff such as Cocteau Twins.

Just out of curiosity, does this song qualify as Shoegaze?

Yeah they do, they're a standard shoegaze band. I saw them live earlier this month too, absolutely fantastic show.

Can the albums Attention Please and New Album, both by the band Boris be considered to be, at least in part, Dream pop albums ?
