Personally, this feels like the most unnintendo thing to do, though saying that they did do the same with the DS systems.
I'm glad the controllers are larger, I felt they were a bit uncomfortable in my huge paws. But i was a bit dissappointed that it all looks grey now. I kinda liked the different cases for each of the Joy-Cons, it's a shame the only difference is the analog stick.

What do you guys think?

May buy it, may not. If the next hypothetical smash bros game releases on it though for sure I'm buying.

Nearly a year ago, a fantastic precision-platformer called Bzzzt was released.

It reminded me a lot of playing Super Meat Boy, where the levels were short, you die a LOT, but when you figure it out, you feel like a gaming GOD! Just when you've mastered things, you get a new abilities, run into bosses and discover all sorts of new challenges. If just beating the levels isn't enough of a test, you can go for perfection by collecting every item in each level and speed-running to beat the clock, giving the game a lot of replay value.

Bzzzt has an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam, and will be featured in their Czech and Slovak Games Week event! It's also available on GOG, and for Nintendo Switch (it's the perfect travel game!), and you can find a free demo version over at Itch.io.

Check out the trailer:

The game was developed completely independently by Karel Matejka, aka @ko-dll. He's been making games for a very long time, and was able to pull this all together without a publisher or marketing team.

Unfortunately, the game has really flown under most people's radar, as many self-published games tend to do. As a fan, I really thought that was a crime, so I reached out to @ko-dll myself to see if there was anything we could do at NG to help get more eyes on this title.

I thought it would be cool to unlock the power of our community, and get some fanart out into the world. What better way than to host an art contest? @ko-dll loved the idea, and offered to provide a bunch of steam keys as prizes. (He also joined the NG community and started sharing some of his epic pixel art, so be sure to check it out and give him a follow!)

So I talked to Tom about throwing in some supporter upgrades as well, and now it's official!

To Participate:

Create fan art in any style you like (just keep it family friendly), then upload it to the Art Portal. Be sure to tag it with Bzzt-Contest so we can find it when it's time to pick the winners!

If you share any of your art on social media, be sure and tag @ko-dll (he has links to his socials on his userpage) so he can share them with all the other fans of the game as well!

Submissions must be published before the end of the day on November 8th (remember, NG is in Eastern Standard Time).

Characters:

@ko-dll, Tom and myself all come from a time where cover artists went hard on interpreting little pixel characters, so we're all excited to see how you apply your imaginations to these little guys.

White knighting aside, Tango is right about not watching videos made by creators you don't like. For all its faults, Youtube's got a "Not interested" button and a "Don't recommend channel" button that I wish more people online were acquainted with. If your feed is full of crap, just stop deliberately watching videos made by people you don't like. Youtube doesn't care if you're only clicking on their videos to hit the dislike button. It still counts as a watch.

Yeah? what's wrong with giving an opinion on an OVERDONE genre, and it's not even just one type of video its MOSTLY the entirety of YouTube and its different genres that have these issues, I wouldn't necessarily have problems with it but the thing is its all the same garbage within these types of videos, so there really isn't a point on watching ANYTHING there anymore, it's just best to look at the open thinkers that are hidden but that's the thing: they WOULDNT be hidden if it weren't for the current content slop that I'm talking about.

It's super easy to not watch videos you don't like dude, people do it all the time. Hopefully you will be able to find the elusive genre that is "people who play video games in front of a camera for fun", I heard it's still out there. Good luck!

I agree but meh, my point still is too real :/ (also I know what a "let's play" is I get what you're referring to and unfortunately that's also not my type) I just don't like the overabundance of it either, like I wish I wouldn't have to "click a button" every time another commentary video is recommended to me and resulting of that making more smartasses on the internet but whatever I'm trying not to be bothered by things it's a real issue for me.

The issue is that Youtube's algorithm & search function makes it absolutely impossible to find them. Tags just don't seem to exist on Youtube. You go to Youtube's help page about tags and they tell you "they're the thing you put on a video when you upload it!" except when you're uploading, Youtube straight up tells you "lol tags are meaningless." Your TITLE is the only way a video can get discovered.

But when you're a small, independent horror artist making weird art house films with Smash Bros, Youtube doesn't know what to do with you and buries your channel until you make something the algorithm agrees with, and even then, it's still a matter of chance. That's what is really wrong with Youtube, as well as a slew of other shit. It's not just the constant stream of meaningless Youtube video essays, it's also forcing this content in your face because that's what is selling.

Youtube used to be YOUtube. It was just kids, teenagers, and young adults making garbage, sometimes with feeling. Now, it's all been swept up by corporation after corporation. Most of the biggest channels have some kind of company backing them to help push their content, leaving people like me absolutely starving for just a fucking view. And the worst part? I don't have an alternative.

Yes, this includes all media too (don't even get me started with the hidden gems on Steam like Fractal Block World ). It's such a shame the actual underrated stuff that actually does the groundbreaking work barley gets noticed, but then again it could also be due to the AMOUNT of same shit content that is being created as we speak :(

Honesty I might be of the minority in this, but when has there been a good age where YouTube is just "fun" ? I don't count saying your favorite channels or creators either I meant as a website. The website has always had this type of "brain rot" videos in general like if this was over a decade ago people would be saying mostly the same shit when it comes commentary videos like Leafy and it's hundred clones or even a few years before that where people were saying the same thing for rant videos. People in general are always going to beef or have a "doom" mindset.

Personally Noodle's latest video I'm just mixed on I get the core message, but I feel like it down plays how people view others online regardless of the nuance it doesn't matter if you sugar coat it or be nice there are going to be people who already made up their mind as soon as they even see the title of the video. I feel like it also ignores how Arin presents himself outside of the video when it comes to playing any game to the point where he becomes infamous for not even having the patience to read a freaking tutorial which retroactively put the Sequelitis videos into a questionable position. Him mentioning the 60 FPS video is funny in hindsight since he made a entire response video ripping on people who don't get the point of the video which is far more egregious than just making a caricature of a internet user for a quick skit.

Overall Youtube as a website is always going to have people making dumb takes, beefing each other, creating the 85th exposed video on Mr.Beast while react channels & streamers free boot it. It's better just take a more strict diet of videos to watch. Outside of that Noodle should stick to making media retrospectives or odd topics like looking back on screen ratios. It's shame too because I still love his overall presentation.

I guess I see what you mean, and sure YouTube wasn't always "great" I just rather MOST of the content to feel legit but yeah you do have a point...

Guys like him cement my belief that I don't wanna hear people's opinions on game development unless they've made a deeper game than just "Untitled Game Test #9,000".

I just watched his video on "how to talk about a video game" and that one might have cemented my distaste for his videos. He just spends 30 minutes whining about Egoraptor saying slurs and insulting OOT fans in a video he made 10 years ago, as if Arin doesn't probably regret parts of that review the same way Noodle admits to not fully agreeing with bits of his old video on frame interpolation.

I've also got a bit of theory crafting, so I think it's pretty much confirmed that most if not all the members of the Circus (aside from Caine and Bubble) are developers and the Circus is some sort of software that has gone wild and can completely trap you in it

At first I thought it was a game with a severe bug making Caine omnipotent, but now I think it's supposed to be a full on alternate world simulation specifically made for people to escape to. The cast seem to be beta/alpha testers for C&A, and are there to develop Caine's AI to be perfect

What I wonder though, did they agree to this? Or is something shady going on beyond the digital world? How much time is passing in the real world and the TADC metaverse? Are they genuinely stuck or do they just forget their memories everytime they put on the headset?

I actually wanna give my whole thoughts on the show as a whole, so initially I thought I was gonna hate it but I wanted to give it a fair shot and watched the first episode and I thought it was pretty alright, I thought it was kind of getting too much praise since right from the start it was getting millions of views for a pilot that was just...meh. But episode 2 actually peaked my interest and I actually liked it a lot more because it was more polished than the pilot (or episode 1 whatever), jump to episode 3 and... again I'm meh about it again except it has some of the polish that the second episode had. I like the whole idea of Pomni in each episode having some sort of connection / learning something from the other characters when they have a second to breath from insanity, it's almost like its making Pomni more powerful by giving her advice to defeat the evil ringmaster known as Caine. But the thing I don't like is that it seems like they also might give that sort of emotional connection to Cane too which I think will be such wasted opportunity to do something unique and TADC will be another "kill em with kindness" type of show (like Steven Universe :I ) . I think it would be better to have a human who's trapped in Caine while also having an evil entity taking over him, it would make the emotional build up from the characters to Pomni (by giving her hope etc) worth it by having a good ending by defeating Caine both sparingly and reasonably too and would give it more of a creatively developed resolution and would make the show worth it, but whatever that's just my opinion...still not too crazy with the show like other people are lol.

The third annual Creature Collab is starting soon, and we have an entire summer of fun planned! This year we are focusing on evolution! Regardless if you are a fan of Pokemon, Digimon, or Darwin, the idea is that every month this summer, we will be working on creating crazy new creatures. The first month of summer will be spent drawing original creatures like last year. For the next two months of the summer, we will be drawing evolved forms of each other's monsters!

This year is heavily inspired by Art Telephone games and will require artists to directly collaborate with each other. We highly recommend joining the Discord Server for this year so you can stay up to date on what everyone is doing!

For those who do not have Discord or prefer a more visual aid, we will have an Online Chart that I will be updating as the collaboration goes along. It should serve as a good tool to see which creature evolves into what!

Lastly, you can find information like the deadline, submission guidelines, and what we have planned for our game application in our Game Design Document.

It's going to be a crazy summer full of crazy creatures, and we really hope we will see you there! :)

I think other than Pizza Tower, certain indie gems that sadly get overlooked or even games that come from here, most indie games nowadays feel the same and aren't really that ambitions then let's say indies were from the 2000's or early 2010's. And the funny thing is, those old indie games usually are "mid" to the soy discord and reddit mods/ twitter users that are apart of THE current gaming industry...

Many of you are probably looking to reconnect with friends and fans, so here’s a roll call! If you’re in Brazil, please reply to this post with an introduction and a few links to your work here on NG.

To create a fancy link to your art, movies, games or audio, simply paste the URL on its own line. For example this URL:

Will look like this in my post:

Curious to see how many artists here are from Brazil!

Also excited to see new faces, like @BRTNH sharing some phenomenal pixel art:

Listen man, you gotta know STUFF to develop stuff. just doing the same shit over and over again isn't art or a fun game in general. I also see you used AI art for your game "Paddle Battle" you also have to have an account for gd games in order to play it which shouldn't be required to play a fucking web game, the only game I see having like one little slither of hope that's sorta fun is Wave Defense Game. but other than that you're a joke.

How am I the prick here lol? get a life...

For me, it was unfortunately with Sonic Frontiers. Now before you gasp at me. It is not a bad game. Not at all! I love the free open world and the soundtrack and story a lot. Its moreso my preference for 2D and 3D linear stages rather than open world stuff. I also find that the guides for how to attack and use the powers you're given unnecessarily complicated, even with the practice mode. Perhaps I'm big dumb, but that's just my preference...I do like games with free open world styles, but stuff that is moreso easy to grasp and understand and with simpler controls. Like Monster Hunter Rise and Pokémon Sword/Violet/Legends Arceus. You get what I mean?

For the record, I am not talking about bad games in this thread - just ones you don't prefer and what makes you not like it. Be civil, people!!!

I'd love to see what you think.

Gotta be Hollow Knight, was just such an OK game I think it's one of the most overhyped games from the past two decades, there are so many other games (much older games too might I add) that do much more than HK but people just fuckin love this specific game where they put it museums and all that jazz and if you disagree with the hype or dare I say not like it, they will essentially slit your throat and go crazy because you had a different opinion for a game that's mid in the first place.

I can agree with this. I had major difficulties with HK and my god....I must be a bad gamer but I hated HK and would happily pass. I also struggled on Cuphead but that one has a cool ass soundtrack and was hand drawn so that gets a pass.

Yeah Cuphead's awesome, I just can't with HK...

I'll put Yume Nikki as an honorable mention, because I did enjoy it when a friend and I figured it out together. I know it's a foundation of what makes RPGs what they are, but walking around giant rooms and desperately trying to interact with something got overwhelming and frustrating really quick. I think I might be salty, though, because I got the ending spoiled a day before I finished it by a STORY OF UNDERTALE VIDEO

Yeah, Yume Nikki is like one of those games for people with specific interest, not really the type of game outside of that to enjoy...
