Do people actually give lower scores when you shamelessly frontpage your own stuff on takeover tuesday?

I don't give low scores to people who self-promote during Takeover Tuesday because if they want to do it so let it be. It's a way to have fun and give yourself a small, temporary corner in the light. Live and let live, and even in case of shitty works I just ignore them.
Of course in case you self-promote morally disgusting and questionable stuff I simply flag them, but that's an extreme case that hasn't happened to me so far.

the news post announcing the feature had people asking if self promotion was allowed and the official answer was yes. that said, more visibility = higher exposition to harsh critics and trolls alike, so the score drop could also be a result of that (just see any submission that was above 4.5 stars before it got frontpaged and dropped to under 4 stars).
Not really. I have even seen self-published works make it to the top 5s. It all really depends on the work itself rather than who promoted it.

Probably.
It just means I might see it. Some stuff is good, others I don't care about. I was an early viewer of Doom the Gallery Experience and I don't regret playing that (even wrote the manual). So it's just one tool of getting noticed among many.
