I always loved drawing, whenever I draw it puts my mind at ease. A few years ago I wanted to try a hobby that gets my brain flowing but also feels rewarding so I decided to start drawing. At first, they were nothing but doodles making little characters do dumb things, I would draw them on a sheet of paper and call it a day but one day I wanted to go big so I bought myself a drawing tablet and started doing art on my computer. At first, it seemed overwhelming, with all the tools that were provided to me I didn't know where to start basically. For the most part, I taught myself with practice plus even looking at other artist's works and trying to figure out how they made that art piece such as the colors, the effects, and much more. Whenever I start a new art piece, I ask myself, "What could I do differently to improve my art from the last piece I did?" I try new techniques to see what I like or what I don't like. In the end, whenever I finish an art piece, I say to myself "Hey I learned something new today" feeling proud about myself and whenever I start a new piece, the cycle repeats.
My mom had an old copy of "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" and I'd trace stuff from there when I was a kid. But I went a good 8 years without actually drawing anything properly. So in 2021, I sat down, spent an hour drawing basic shapes, and then watched cartoons with a sketchbook in hand and copied everything I saw. Then, I started collecting more and more art books, and now I'm decent at drawing and painting.
Granted, it took a few years so I could get where I am today, but it's how a lot of people learn. Nowadays, I never leave home without something I can draw with. I also experimented with different mediums like Gouache, Watercolor, and Charcoal. But I'm most familiar with ProCreate. I also like to look at art by other artists and see what I can learn just by seeing. Frank Frazetta said that every time he watches a movie or TV, something from that film or show with stick in his brain and come out in his next painting. I think that applies to every artist.
I never did, probably something to do with low motor skills. it was never great but if i ever did draw, nowadays anyway, I realized that my imagination always enhanced my drawings from not good to absolutely adorable. To describe the style, it's very crude and I quite like what I can produce when I put my mind to it lol.
