In this thread, lets take a look back at some of the most crushing low-points of the BBS and log them here for all to see and reflect upon.

The way I'm thinking this could work is a new user posts their personal top 10 threads, and the moment within. Perhaps they can elaborate to the context of the moment, you can choose to link it or not, but every couple of pages or so, we'll make a tally and actually rank them up by number of votes by users who are in agreement.

We can discuss them, we can laugh about the low points or commiserate in a moment's awfulness. We'll see whats depressing to some might be hilarious to others and visa-versa...but the point is for us, in General, to talk about it. Don't sweep this under the rug...users who may be feeling down in the dumps could potentially climb their way out of it by seeing the darker history of our humble little forum.

My examples for what could be included in a top 10.

-That moment when that user probably actually deleted their system32 file, and mods were in an uproar. I can't remember what the thread was called but it was the primary example that prompted me to create the thread.
- The somber news of any Newgrounds user's passing away.
- Certain derailments that took a great or even mediocre thread and turned it into shit before it was locked.
- A user's cry for help ignored or berated.
- Tryhards melting down over nothing.
- "the beast awakens"
- The dovahkiin1994 saga.
- Mods getting demodded.
- NG Chat's death / site news.
- World events, anything from wars to sports to media and news.

This is a community discussion! Even if you can only think of one or two examples, slap 'em on here and talk about it.

It's a thread that doubles as an archive...a glimpse into NG BBS history that we can all discuss about.

Post as many as you like, any user can vote on any number of threads, and eventually they'll be tallied to rank them as to what the community agrees is the most depressing spectacle.

Jesus, the guy asking for advice with girls is the same "American feminists are Taliban" guy? Holy fuck-a-roni, I never even knew. This is literally mind-blowing, especially considering I posted in a couple of the previous topics and--until now--never realized that he's the one that created the "American women are radioactive" thread. I mean, it's just weird for me. To think this guy somehow got crushed so hard that he became consumed by rage and hatred. Shit, that must have been a dark place. Wonder how he's doing now.

As for my contribution, the Boston Bombing and Newton Connecticut Shooting threads are the first to jump off my mind. As for more NG-oriented threads, there is everyone in the NG alcoholics anonymous club thread (or at least everyone there that's an actual alcoholic). And then there's every "depression" thread on NG. I was also a little sad when that one birthday thread I made for 4cat got deleted haha.

The only one I can really think of is the lack of photoshop threads. There used to be a bunch and a lot of the time, they were fun. But now, we get like 5 photoshop threads a month and its a miracle if it gets any posts for it.

People said I was at one time acting in a depressing manner on the Newgrounds.com BBS, and I was - very irrationally - browned off at a couple of people who went on to say negative things about me without talking to me first.

Of course, I was filled with drugs and alcohol at the time, and for all I know they could've made the effort to contact me at some previous point. I have no way of knowing now really.

Bad times. I don't know what's worse, the faded memories of those times or the feeling that I could fall off the wagon again any day now.

Its not even about the chat closing itself, but the users we lost because of it.

I see a few of them on here, but not that many and never for extended periods at a time. Most just disappeared with it.

Some guy made a thread announcing he got a girlfriend. He posted a pic of his girlfriend at a party where all you could see was her head and neck sticking out from the side of the picture. I don't know why the thread got deleted. It got quite a lot of pages and was locked for a few days.
Other depressing BBS moments was discovering beaver-beaver was an alt and his shitty flashes were all intentionally bad, the drama surrounding Rina-Chan and the writers of Brawl Taunts, the drama surrounding Alvin-Earthworm, that time when the Duck Division hacked a mod and ravaged the BBS, and the recent stint of shitposting brought about by Vnzi.

NG seems to have forgotten about beaver-beaver, but you can ask around about the other moments. They're really embarrassing.
